What is The Atlantic Immigration Program?
The Atlantic Immigration Program is an employer-driven program that facilitates hiring of foreign nationals. All principal applicants arriving in Canada under the program must have a job offer from a designated employer and an individualized settlement plan for themselves and their families.
Once the candidate has accepted the job, the employer will connect the candidate with a designated settlement service provider organization for a needs assessment and develop a settlement plan. Employers will also support the long-term integration of the new immigrant and his or her family, if applicable, so they can reach the goals of their settlement plan once they arrive in Canada.
Can I get Canadian Permanent Residence by Atlantic Immigration Program?
If eligible, you can take the AIP route to Canada PR and settle within any of the Canadian provinces that make up Atlantic Canada which includes:
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Nova Scotia
- New Brunswick
- Prince Edward Island
You can immigrate to Atlantic Canada through the AIP if you are a skilled worker or an international student.
Application Process for the Atlantic Immigration Program
- We will conduct a needs assessment service to decide on the settlement plan to be followed by the candidate and their family.
- The selected settlement plan is sent to the employer as well as the candidate.
- The employer completes the endorsement application and submits job offer and settlement plan to the province.
- The candidate submits a completed permanent residency application to the IRCC.
- The application is submitted, and if approved, the candidate and the people concerned can now move to Atlantic Canada.

IRCC announced on February 17, 2021 that the Atlantic Immigration Program is now a permanent immigration program. The government positively assesses this program and fulfills one of its pre-election promises in the realm of immigration.
To qualify for this temporary work permit, skilled immigrants will need a valid job offer and an intent to apply for permanent residence within 90 days of the application.
